MY EXPERIENCE 24K GOLD BEAUTY BAR (RECOMENDED TIME IS 2-3 MINUTE USE)

The first time I tried it I was obsessed! I tried it on half my face, making long motions upward on my forehead and chin, and diagonally upwards ones from the center of my face outwards. For about 30 seconds to one minute half my face was significantly more lifted than the other, nothing scary like a facelift, just noticeable to me.

Best for oily skin

This concealer has an oil-free formula that is silky smooth and better yet Sashas Lashes safe!!

The light, buildable formula goes on easily with your fingers, but is pigmented enough to hide dark circles and blemishes when you need it. Plus, it comes in 16 shades from ivory to dark brown, so chances are you’ll be able to find a colour for you!

The soft matte finish leaves your skin looking soft and natural and so not greasy. We did notice that without a powder over top, this concealer tends to end up in places you don’t want it, so be sure to set it if you’re looking for full-day wear.

What we loved: The velvet matte finish was great for minimizing the appearance of oil.

What we didn’t: Our testers with drier skin types found it tended to crease. Many of us found the potted concealer was more difficult to apply than those in sticks or with applicators.

Best all around

This concealer was the overall favourite during our test, and favoured by our testers with dry, oily, and combination skin alike! The oil-free formula gives full coverage, easily hiding dark circles and blemishes. What we loved: The hydration, and the finish. Dab it onto the highest points of your cheek bones for a radiant finish that is the perfect compromise between matte and dewey.

What we didn’t: Some of our testers found it a bit on the heavy side.

TARTE AMAZONIAN CLAY WATERPROOF

Best for dry skin

While Tarte describes this as a full-coverage concealer, we found it in the lighter to medium coverage range. It has a beautifully light, creamy consistency that feels more like a tinted moisturizer on your skin than it does a concealer. While the other two concealers we tested needed setting to stay put, this one seemed to melt right in (in a good way).

This finish was almost dewy, with no hint of caking or chalkiness. It has the perfect amount of pigment to conceal under-eye circles while still looking natural. Plus, it’s waterproof!

What we loved / Personal: I LOVED the texture! I expected it to be chalky or drying because of the Amazonian Clay, but it was the smoothest, and most magical concealer I’ve ever tried—oil-based included.

What we didn’t: The colour range is not very impressive. It comes in ten colours, with most in the light to medium beige range.

All in all, these three concealers definitely eased our skepticism about oil-free makeup. Skin-type was the biggest factor in the overall texture and wear of each concealer, but even our testers with dry skin found a favourite among the three.

Our verdict?

Lash Adhesive in this weather!

Lash Adhesive in this weather.
I have seen a lot of lash technicians struggling with their lash adhesive and lash retention recently.

Often spending hundreds of pounds trying different adhesives to no avail.
So why, all of a sudden, is this happening?
Summer time for everyone is the best time of year. Sunbathing, tans, relaxing and holidays. But for us lash technicians it often spells disaster.
What can we do?
Storage: Your adhesive must be stored in conditions dictated by your supplier. We suggest storing in a cool dark place where temperature fluctuations are unlikely to occur. So that means do not leave in your beauty case in the boot of your car for example.
Humidity: Your adhesive must be used in optimal conditions. Our adhesives work great at 45-55%. Otherwise, it may dry quicker or slower than you expect which may catch you off guard equalling poor retention.
Temperature: In this heat, adhesives behave differently. If you can’t get a stable room temperature of 18-24 degrees Celsius then you will need to adjust the amount of adhesive you are using.
Shake Your Adhesive: The warmer weather makes the adhesive ingredients harder to mix. So you really need to vigorously shake your adhesive before use. Otherwise, by the time you reach the second half of the bottle, it’ll be no good.
This time of year is possibly the toughest, so keep at it. Use every tactic you can… Air Con, Hydrometers, Humidifiers, Dehumidifiers, use proper ventilation, use correct storage and use the correct amount of adhesive. You can even choose a slower drying adhesive to counteract the issue.
Remember, you can do this!

5 GOALS LASH ARTISTS SHOULD HAVE

It is so important to set (and keep) goals throughout the entire year! It has been long enough since January 1st, that I think it’s time to set some new goals!
Here are the 5 goals that SASHAS LASHES suggests you make!

1. Stay fully stocked

There’s nothing worse than not having the lashes that your client wants. This gives them the chance to leave, and go to someone who has the lashes that they want. Also make sure any products you resell to your clients are in stock so they don’t have to find those products elsewhere.
2. Keep track of good clients
Staying in touch with good clients will help you maintain and build your clientele. Thank them for their loyalty, and reward them for referrals. Don’t forget to send reminders to all clients. Your time is valuable and any last minute cancellation can hurt your overall income. These reminders will help them stay accountable, and should give you enough time to find a client that can fill their spot.
3. Market yourself
Marketing yourself with help in building a large clientele. Besides creating a social media platform to showcase your work, some good ideas are to create your own website, pass out your business cards wherever you go, and wear cute lash apparel! You will literally be a walking, talking advertisement!
4. Invest to impress
Finding the “cheapest” product is not a good idea when working so close to people’s eyes. You need to be able to trust the brand you are going with, Quality over quantity every time!!!
5. Always continue your education
Have you only been trained in Classic lashing? Set a goal to take a Volume course! Already taken both? The industry is constantly changing and growing, so keeping up with the latest and greatest is a MUST!

10 THINGS YOUR LASH ARTIST WANTS YOU TO KNOW

1. Longer extensions don’t always mean more dramatic.
Clients should be aware that shorter lashes can achieve a fuller and bolder look. Often, longer extensions give a whispie—almost ‘spidery’ – effect. Some clients love that look, but some don’t! It’s important to know exactly what kind of result you’re going for before requesting long extensions to get a ‘dramatic’ set.”

2. Not all volume sets are created equal.

“There are levels to volume lashes; beginner volume and advanced volume. Keep in mind the experience, skill level, and type of volume lashing your lash artist is capable of executing when booking your appointment to align your expectations with the outcome. Advanced volume boasts the dark, uniform lash line that saturates Instagram and can sometimes only be achieved after years of honing in on the craft.”

3. Don’t be shy.

As a lash artists my self I want to make sure that you have the best experience possible when getting your Sashas lashes done! During the appointment , if you are in any discomfort—such as burning, or the tape or eye pads are rubbing your eyes, please make us aware so that we are able right away to prevent redness or irritation to the eyes. If you have any problems after your appointment , like allergic reactions or eye redness, we can recommend the best options to help in these cases.

4. Clean those lashes.

Don’t come with dirty lashes. As a courtesy to your stylist please cleanse and brush your lashes before your fill. This will give me more time lashing, and the retention of your new set will be amazing. Clean bonds, better retention. 

Think about it this way: who goes to the dentist without brushing first?
5. Cat-eye styling isn’t for everyone.

Sometimes with false lashes, cat eye styling (where the longest lashes are at the outer corners) makes the eyes look larger. But this doesn’t translate very well to lash extensions unlike strip lashes, use your natural lashes as a base. The lashes on your outer eye naturally grow shorter, and are often unable to support the weight of ultra long extensions. So overloading the ends with super long extensions creates a droopy, winged effect—which isn’t flattering for anyone. Instead, forget the cat eye, and ask for a styling where the longest lengths are between the mid and outer eye.

6. Extensions are H20-friendly!

I would like for my clients to understand just because they have lash extensions doesn’t mean they have to avoid water/water activities! I promote lash extensions as a great alternative to mascara for those who enjoy time in the water! Just make sure you use Oil free products for your lashes to last.

7. Keep talking to a minimum.

One of the things I consider a top priority to let my client’s know, is that talking during the service can negatively affect their results in so many ways. So I’ll include something like this in their confirmation message: ‘Unfortunately, as much as I love chatting with my clients, the more we talk the harder it is to for me to achieve seamless application, work quickly, and focus on the dynamic design pattern I have customized for you. I want your lashes to be the best they can be ( super full and styled perfectly) 

so just keep that in mind and feel free to bring headphones if you’d like. I want you to be able to fully enjoy this relaxing service!.

 I always feel like if they knew they were doing something that was compromising their results, they would prefer to know! Most people don’t even realize it’s an issue, so it’s just better to let them know in a polite and friendly way.

8. You gotta work, work, work, work, work too.

One thing I wish clients knew and understood is that lash retention does not just happen because the lash artist keeps up on fresh products, or proper lash application! Lash retention is also caused by seasons changing, lash cleanliness, their makeup routine, medications, oily or dry skin, shed cycles you name it!!! 
 9. Skip the caffeine.

Consuming caffeine before your lash appointment can cause your eyes to flutter or twitch. This can be a nightmare when it comes to getting each lash properly isolated and bonded. Not to mention, it’s potentially dangerous ((think sharp tweezers)) –  Avoid caffeine at least one hour prior to your appointment, and your lash artist will thank you!
10. Don’t hold it!

If you need to go to the bathroom please tell me. It’s better to take a 5 min break than having you moving around, and anxious on the bed. You’re supposed to enjoy this you time!

Every girl loves long, thick, luscious lashes, but some people are just not blessed with them! Glue-on strips may work on a girls night out to hit the town, but who has the time to put them on everyday?! The lash serums are great, but there’s obviously side effects to it, and once you stop using them they’ll go back to your natural length. Eyelash extensions have been around for several years and they’re now popular than ever, but like any other lash lengthening solution, they have their downsides. 1. It’s just another thing that you need to keep up with. They’re just like getting your nails done!

2. You can’t use oil-based products- especially makeup removers.

3. Depending on where you get them done, they can get pretty pricey! 

4. Make sure to do some research on a technician before you go with them, they can ruin your lashes if it isn’t done right!

5. Can’t rub your eyes. If you have allergies, eyelash extensions may not be a good decision for you.

6. Once you get your lashes wet, you have to brush them out.

7. If you go too long without getting a fill, your lashes will grow out and all the lashes can get twisted.
